How I started Blank Canvas
After getting my second degree (yip, that student life was a 6 year ordeal!) I started working in the industry. I instantly fell in love and knew this was where I wanted to grow.
I always dreamed of starting my own business, but it always seemed so far away. While at agencies I thought I needed to start making a lil extra cash (don’t we all), and started doing some design work on the side. It started very small with projects for family and friends. As more requests came in, and the more I was referred, (how sweet?) the more my passion was ignited. I loved every minute of the branding journey and most importantly loved doing it for others; watching their businesses and projects come to life. My degrees set the foundation for my new adventure.
When the pandemic hit, I took that as a sign to be brave and finally take the plunge to start my own thing, and well… here we are.
It's more than just a name
The scariest part of starting something new, is the starting. I remember being told that when I didn’t know where to begin with a design, to just make a mark on the blank canvas. The rest of the project suddenly becomes less scary. When dreaming of starting my very own business, I had that exact scary “just start” moment, and so Blank Canvas was formed.
The name pays homage to that “make a mark” lesson. Starting from something new means that it can go in any direction, and there’s a scary kind of excitement in that!
The Process
You found me, you loved my work (ah, thanks!) and you want us to work together (yay!). Let me breakdown a bit of what you can expect:
First, we will complete the enquiry form. This is where I learn as much as I can about you and your business. The more questions you answer, with as much detail as possible (I’m not being nosey, it genuinely helps!) the faster the next step can go. I want to get an understanding of you and your brand so we can have a clear strategy from the start. You can also look at the different package options that are available.
Once I have your details, I will get in touch so we can chat about what package will best suit your business needs. I’ll give you a call so we can discuss any questions you have. I will then jump straight into the strategy and start working out what you and your business needs, and put together a strategy to move forward.
This is where the fun starts (my fav part)! Here, we will play with colours, layouts, and everything your brand needs. Once we are on the same page, the designing can begin!
So, we’ve had good back and forth and you LOVE the final design (Nailed it!) Once you’ve signed off on all the designs, all the files will be sent your way and you are now ready to put your new brand out into the world! (How cool is that?)
