Doi-Nang-Non

Legend has it, that there once was a beautiful princess who was in love with a stable boy, and became pregnant. Knowing that her father the King would execute the stable boy if he found out, she and her lover ran away and hid in a cave to rest. The stable boy went looking for food and was caught by the Kings soldiers who killed him. When the Princess realized her lover had been killed, she killed herself by stabbing a hair pin into her head. Legend says her blood became the water that flows through the cave till today, and that as her spirit left her body it grew and grew until it was the size of a mountain in the shape of a sleeping lady. That mountain is Doi Nang Non, and the cave is Tham Luang Nang Non.
